Through the years of American history quality health has been decreasing. Today there are more diseases as well as obesity cases. There are many things besides medicine, like exercise that help increase health. Fitness overall is good for the body and the mind. There are five components of fitness which include muscle endurance, muscle strength, flexibility, body composition, and cardio. Each of these components has multiple exercises that have many benefits towards one’s health. Muscle endurance is defined as, “the ability of a muscle or group of muscles to repeatedly exert force against resistance” (Livestrong.com). One muscle endurance exercise is Pilates. Pilates “is a mind-body intervention that focuses on core stability, posture, flexibility, strength, breathing, and movement control” (Wells). It was not until just years ago that Pilates became popular, no one really knew what it was. Maybe it was just a different form of yoga, but today Pilates is big. People participate in classes and even have at home videos.
Through a variation of different exercises Pilates increases/improves overall fitness and can help your body slim down. It focuses on controlling the abdomen and other important muscles. People that had chronic lower back pain (CLBP) participated in Pilates, and say it gave them proper posture. Research shows that patients with chronic lower back pain who participate in Pilates say it can reduce disability, pain, and increases their confidence of movement…
